Personal Qualities, Work Habits and Attitudes:
Alameda Community Learning Center has been the greatest and kindest community I have ever been to. ACLC encouraged me to truly focus on my educational journey and empowered me to feel better about myself and tell myself that I can accomplish anything. Time management played a big role in how I completed my assignments on time. What really helped me, were project periods because I had time between classes to finish assignments and complete them on time. With the help of JC(Judicial Committee) and other activities that they have, I was not only happy with the diversity that ACLC holds but I was able to participate in activities that they have and I think that’s important for a school to have, is a community where everyone feels included.
New Basics:
During my early years in ACLC, I was never really motivated to do my school work. I was always turning my assignments late and giving attitude to my teachers. After maturing, I started to actually care about my grades, I cared about going to school and I started to be responsible with my time. My mom graduated high school, college, and university and that really inspires me to graduate high school and become something in the future. My goal is to make my parents proud of me and to become an Orthodontist.
Thinking and Reasoning skills:
Being at ACLC has helped me grow as a person and made me more mature and responsible with my time. With this pandemic going on, it did make me unmotivational with my school work but I realized that this is my last year of high school and I will not be throwing it away. I also was really bad at math. It’s the worst class everyone has but with Marcos Rodriguez, who sadly has passed, he really helped me grow in math and I would always get bad grades on my tests but then I slowly started getting better at my tests and getting passing grades. I am thankful for my facilitators at ACLC for always being there for me.
Interpersonal and Collaborative Skills:
When I came to ACLC, I was really shy and I was not able to speak in front of anyone but after making friends and participating in bevys or CCC, I started to get more comfortable around others. ACLC really helped me feel comfortable with others because I would not be able to present to my classmates but then starting to get to know my classmates and how supportive they were, I was able to present in front of my classes. I appreciate the skills I have gained by being in ACLC.
Technology:
ACLC having computers and printers in the center really helped me throughout my years of being here. I was able to use them for my projects and my assignments and having access to the computers helped me turn in my assignments before my classes started. ACLC gives access to computers, laptops, and printers. Which really helped me with my school work and also to whoever wants to do their work during school and not at home. It was also really helpful having the printers in the center because that way I wouldn’t waste time by going to the office and asking them to print something out for me.
Conclusion:
I can't believe this is the end of high school, I never thought it would come by so quick. I am grateful for the amazing teachers I had and for being able to attend this amazing school. I learned so many cool things while attending ACLC, I got over my fear of presenting in front of the class, I learned how to do math, and I learned really interestng things in Biology class. I am excited for what comes next and for my future.
